Account book, 1819-1823.

This account book records purchases made by local residents from Law's general store in Dudley, Mass., for the period 1819 to May 1820. In June 1820, the entries shift to Douglas, Mass. The scope of these accounts expanded to include records of Law's payments for labor and his purchases of spinning and weaving materials, such as cotton yarn and spools. Beginning with 2 July 1821, all entries were made in Oxford, Mass. Business dealing with general store merchandise was still recorded, but also include were invoices of bales of cotton received from local manufacturers and merchants for the purpose of spinning and weaving. A few of these invoices were dated 1823. Apparently, Law shifted his emphasis from the general store business to the manufacture of cloth.
